CANCELLATION OF OUTDOOR - WHAT NEXT?

Written by Kathrin Worms | Feb 14, 2025 10:17:09 AM

The decision to cancel OutDoor 2025 is a turning point for the entire outdoor and sports industry. For many years, the trade fair was a fixed meeting point for brands, retailers and industry experts - a platform for personal dialogue, inspiration and strategic developments.

Many in the industry had been looking forward to making greater use of this direct contact again after the pandemic-related restrictions. The key question now is: how can the industry remain in close contact without the trade fair?

THE INDUSTRY CONTINUES TO EVOLVE - EXCHANGE REMAINS ESSENTIAL

The outdoor and sports industry has changed fundamentally in recent years. Collaboration between brands and retailers is becoming increasingly digital, processes are being optimised and networking is taking place more and more via new channels.

The cancellation of OutDoor 2025 therefore does not mean that the dialogue will cease - it just needs to be rethought. Which tried-and-tested structures can be used to strengthen the connection between retailers and brands? What opportunities are there to further improve efficiency and collaboration? And what role do face-to-face meetings play in this new context?

‘For many of us, OutDoor was much more than just a trade fair - it was a central place to share ideas, cultivate relationships and shape the future of our industry together. Now is the right time to find new ways to exchange ideas and talk about how we can further develop the collaboration between retailers and brands.’

SHAPING THE FUTURE TOGETHER

As part of this industry, we want to use our experience and our network to think about these issues together with all industry players. We are convinced that the outdoor community is strong and that the dialogue will continue to develop - with new approaches, formats and opportunities.

  • How can existing (digital) structures be used to network retailers and brands more closely?
  • What formats will be needed to continue the industry's dialogue in 2025 even without a central trade fair?

Let's enter into dialogue together, exchange ideas and actively shape change. What are your thoughts on this? We look forward to your comments - on LinkedIn or by email to hello@outtra.com!
